Mechanical Design Engineer (Project or Hourly-based)
Location: Istanbul (Remote-first, on-site as required)
Company: Tezzro
About Us
We are Tezzro, at the forefront of developing advanced autonomous checkout-free store technology.
Our team is focused on building state-of-the-art solutions that redefine the shopping experience through AI-driven systems, smart sensing, and precision-engineered hardware.
We’re a cross-functional team of engineers and innovators working to merge software intelligence with robust hardware design, and we’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who can bring physical products to life — from concept to production.
About the Role
We’re seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with 3–4 years of professional experience, fluent in English, who will work with us on an hourly or project-based engagement — fully dedicated during project execution.
You’ll design precision mechanical components, housings, and assemblies, optimize them for manufacturing, and collaborate directly with us to prototype and scale hardware for our autonomous store systems.
You’ll also be an integral part of our brainstorming and design discussions, contributing insights that shape the final product’s mechanical and manufacturing direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design sheet metal parts and assemblies, including accurate flat patterns and bending allowances.
- Develop 3D-printable models for polymer and metal additive manufacturing (HP MJF and metal 3D printing).
- Design injection molds and tooling for plastic parts and components.
- Conduct material stress and deformation simulations (FEA) to validate mechanical robustness.
- Prepare detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Optimize designs for series manufacturing, considering cost, assembly efficiency, and repeatability.
- Collaborate with us during concept and development stages, offering practical design insights and manufacturing-driven suggestions.
- Identify, evaluate, and liaise with local Turkish manufacturing partners for sheet metal, machining, and prototyping (e.g., Xometry Türkiye, 3D printing bureaus, and local workshops).
- Support prototype production and testing, ensuring design intent is met.
- Document all stages of the design process with professionalism and traceability.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 3–4 years of hands-on mechanical design experience (preferably in machinery, product design, or prototyping).
- Proficiency in Onshape or SolidWorks (CAD modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings).
- Proven experience in:
- Sheet metal design
- 3D printing (polymer and metal)
- Injection mold design
- Mechanical simulation / stress analysis (FEA)
- Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and geometric tolerancing.
- Solid understanding of material science, including selecting materials suitable for hot, cold, and high-humidity environments, evaluating material durability, corrosion resistance, and thermal behavior, and designing heat-insulated and water-sealed enclosures. The candidate should be able to choose materials and structural approaches that maintain mechanical performance and environmental protection under varying operating conditions.
- Fluent in English, especially for technical discussions and documentation.
- Familiarity with local Turkish manufacturing ecosystem (metal workshops, machining shops, prototyping providers, 3D printing services).
- Self-disciplined and capable of remote work, with flexibility for on-site meetings or factory visits when required.
Soft Skills & Personal Attributes
- Proactive and resourceful problem solver with strong attention to detail.
- Open-minded and collaborative — ready to co-create, brainstorm, and iterate designs with our core engineering team.
- Strong communicator — able to clearly present design reasoning, risks, and trade-offs.
- Comfortable with rapid prototyping, fast iterations, and hardware testing cycles.
- Analytical mindset with a practical sense for manufacturability and assembly.
Engagement Details
- Type: Hourly-based or project-based (flexible structure)
- Location: Istanbul (remote-first, occasional on-site work)
- Commitment: Full dedication during project periods
- Start: Immediate availability preferred
How to Apply
Please provide the following information:
- Your CV / resume
- A portfolio or examples of previous mechanical design work (including at least one sheet-metal and one 3D-printing or injection-molding project)
- A short note on your experience collaborating with local manufacturing partners or prototyping shops in Turkey, and your preferred CAD system (Onshape or SolidWorks)
