Job Description

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to achieve growth targets, expanding CHEP’s market presence in key territories and sectors.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic key accounts, leading negotiations, contract management, and fostering strong customer relationships for long-term revenue retention.
  • Proactively identify and secure high-value new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and relationship-building, ensuring a strong sales pipeline and conversion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Customer Service) to design and deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs and align with CHEP’s value proposition.
  • Continuously monitor market trends, customer insights, and competitor activities to refine sales strategies, capitalize on growth opportunities, and enhance CHEP’s positioning.
  • Lead the development and execution of joint business plans with strategic customers, driving sustainable growth, cost reduction, and enhanced supply chain efficiencies.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior business development managers, fostering a high-performance, goal-oriented team culture.
  • Prepare and present detailed business development reports, forecasts, and strategic updates to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and growth initiatives.

Commercial Sales Manager

Position Purpose: The Commercial Manager is responsible for identifying & qualifying new business leads and then managing them through to implementation as per the company sales targets

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute growth plans for specific customers, market segments and industries
  • Identify new business leads through prospection activities
  • Nurture & qualify assigned leads
  • Lead all assigned opportunities through to completion (won/lost)
  • Support the implementation of new business
  • Provide post launch support for the regional managers/key account owners as required
  • Maintain CRM database in line with company standards and arrange report outs on a regular basis
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders e.g. in supply chain, commercial finance and leadership team

Qualifications

Business degree (MBA) or other relevant degree (Bachelors) and a minimum of 5 years working experience in a customer environment with commercial background. Automotive experience expected.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in customer facing commercial role within a multinational environment
  • Solid & proven track record in new business sales
  • Experience in working within sizeable multi discipline teams
  • Working in the Automotive sector or adjacent
  • Influencing change in a matrix/cross-functional environment
  • Operating proficiently within industry standard CRM systems and business applications

Skill and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of sales methodologies such as Miller Heiman
  • Hunter skillset
  • Resilience, tenacity and determination
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent networking skills (internal & external)
  • Knowledge of standard CRM systems
  • Excellent networking capabilities and ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to own and take accountability for a project/process
